Course Introduction:

This is a 2-hour online course, designed for individuals within an organization participating in the collecting and sharing of client information in the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS). Students will be given an overview of the Los Angeles, Orange County Policies and Procedures.

• Protected Personal Information (PPI)
• Participating Organizations
• Privacy Practices
• Data Standards
• Client Rights

Course Objective:

Upon completion of this course, students will have a clear understanding of the policies that govern the current system, including HMIS participation and user responsibility.

This is a 8-hour course.
The swipe card/ biometric technology training is designed for agencies that operate a Winter Shelter and/or Year Round Program to record services rendered on a client. This course will teach users the “How To” for inputting intake assessments, create swipe card IDs, fingerprint enrollment, enroll clients into a program, conduct VISPDAT questionnaire and track services provided utilizing swipe card/biometric technology. In addition, users will learn how to input/track case management sessions and document placements.

This course is designed for organizations providing street outreach services to those experiencing homelessness. It is a 3-hour course, in this hands-on HMIS experience, students will learn how to efficiently enter locations, track contacts, and services provided to clients, soft case management and exit destinations.

Overview:

In this course, instructor will provide students with the skills and knowledge to navigate and use the features of HMIS. Course contents and outcomes include:

• Record distinct location & contact data
• Search & add client demographic details
• Enter client income(s)
• Upload & access documents
• Enter supplemental forms, including CES surveys
• Track delivered services
• Exit client from program

Objectives:

Course Introduction:

This is an optional 3-hour course designed for providers who have already attended HMIS 102, 509 and/or 507 and would like an “In-person” tutor to go over any area of difficulty. In this hands-on HMIS experience; students are encouraged to use their organization data as material, for a step by step overview.

Course Overview:

In this course, one-on-one tutoring will be provided to meet individuals where they need the most help, with a focus on any of the following activities:

• Search for Clients and access dashboard details
• Add or maintain client demographic details
• Record & maintain client income(s)
• Upload documents
• Enroll clients in program
• Enter the CES Survey, case management and services
• Exit to destination
• Enter housing follow-up
• Navigate through other HMIS pages; as requested, including the basics of “Reports”

Course Objective:

Upon completion of this course, students will feel more confident to use HMIS, and will be able to effectively and efficiently enter data for the client’s they serve.

This workshop format training allows agencies to learn useful data assurance reports with Data Analyst to check their data quality issues in HMIS. The DQ reports are: Agency Client without Application, Client Roster by Report Period, Client without Service during Period Report, Family Type and Size Validation Report, HUD Required Data Missing Report, Client Service Aging Report. Attendance is mandatory for agencies are ready for APR and QPR submission.

This is a 1 hour online webinar course
Prerequisite: HMIS 10, HMIS 100, HMIS 150, HMIS 200
This training is offered to agencies staff who have agency administrative rights and have a current LACoC HMIS user accounts and who are familiar with HMIS data quality – HMIS 200. The focus is on how to open a client application record after the client has been exited from the program, how to delete a client’s application record after inadvertently entered the client in the wrong program, and how to delete/remove a duplicated client program entry. Agencies are to designate a primary and secondary person who will be responsible at this capacity.

This course is designed specifically for organizations providing services to HFSS/CES for Families experiencing homelessness. It is a 7-hour course, in this hands-on HMIS experience, students will learn how to effectively manage and enroll in the Screening & Coordinated Assessment Program (SCAP); and subsequent program(s), enter and track family demographics, services, case management and exit destinations.

Course Overview:

In this course, instructor will demonstrate how to effectively navigate through HMIS by doing the following for the head of household and household dependents:

• Search & add client demographic details
• Maintain client demographic updates
• Record & maintain client income(s)
• Upload documents
• Enroll in Coordinated Assessment program; and subsequent program(s)
• Enter CES Survey
• Enter Prevention Targeting Tool
• Track delivered services by specific program components
• Exit client to destination
• Generate basic client-specific reports

Course Objective:

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to effectively and efficiently manage and maintain accurate/complete data on the families you serve.
